by Melinda Hill This 1995 release by Margaret Becker, one of the best voices in CCM, is fairly uneven, but not unsatisfying. Produced by Charlie Peacock, it ranges from ethereal and earnest to over-synthesized and over-produced. The first half of the album is frequently regrettable. "True Devotion" sounds tinny and dated, and the title track, "Grace," is funky techno-pop gone wrong. Way, way wrong. But just two tracks later the album redeems itself with "Close Enough to Change," a song that's vintage Becker -- earthy and real. "Moment of Choice" is also pleasant, with lush accompaniment. "We May Never" is gentle but rich, harkening Becker's coming sabbatical from CCM. Grace definitely shows its age, but it's still worth a listen, at least to the second half.
