After all, they're enjoyed by soccer players, frat boys, and Sunday morning girlfriends the world over. They seem somehow inappropriate for a man so angry, so lost in the fires of his own soul. How does Wayne do it? How does he juggle the struggle of sounding more like Korn with each passing song, while still keeping his toesies comfy? Amazing! Only the shadows know the secret of Static-X's thrashing, industrial Tinactin alchemy, but their fan base probably does too, and that's who will love this collection of rarities, remixes, and B-sides. "S.O.M.," "Down," and "Head" go back to 1998, while openers "Breathe" and "Deliver Me" date from 2003 -- no doubt the sessions for Shadow Zone. Together, the tracks are a helpful guide for moving from the guitar tones of Ministry to Korn's histrionics in a few short years. Speaking of Ministry, Paul Barker remixes "I'm With Stupid." Beneath... ends with five demos dated from 1996 through 2002. They're bastard children of Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, and Gravity Kills; they're corns on the feet of metal, and it's time to rub the bunions.
