The 15-track Xmas in the City assembles seasonal recordings from the Motown vaults, most notable among them four tracks from Marvin Gaye, including a pair of originals ("I Want to Come Home for Christmas" and the instrumental "Christmas in the City") as well as a silky rendition of the perennial "The Christmas Song." Other highlights: Stevie Wonder's "Miracles of Christmas," Smokey Robinson's "Christmas Lullaby," and Diana Ross' rendition of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas."
