A master of American popular song, Michael Feinstein turns to children´s music for Pure Imagination and the result should please children and adults alike. The album includes story songs ("Ferdinand the Bull") and "message" songs ("Aren´t You Glad You´re You"), as well as favorites from films, such as the title track (from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and a medley from Disney´s Alice in Wonderland. This album is about what you´d expect from Feinstein, including irrepressible cheer, pleasant singing (if a little strained toward the top of his range), a guest appearance from Rosemary Clooney, and impeccable song selection.
