简介: This isn´t modern Mexican music. Today one hears salsa, meringue, and Cuban rhythms in Mexico more than other musical styles. Nor is it music from the indigenous past, such as one would hear at the Ballet Folklorico. Rather, it is the music from a standard mariachi reportory, but performed in an authentic manner, worthy of this truly professional group who bring us in sound and spirit to the decade of Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa, the legendary Adelita and Valentina, and other "heroes" of the Revolution of 1910-1920. One seldom hears such refrains presented as they sounded when first played and sung, and the skilled Zaizar Brothers have researched carefully to give us this taste of Mexico past. I own an audio cassette from the mid-1980s containing some of the material, and gladly added the compact disk to my collection when it became available recently. This new CD contains twice the number of songs, all a delight.
