Five LPs of material (including this one) that were recorded by organist Jimmy Smith within a three-day period have been reissued on CD by Mosaic. But listeners who do not have that set and run across any of the albums would not go wrong by picking them up. This interesting record features Smith in a duet (titled "The Duel") with drummer Art Blakey, jamming with his trio (which includes guitarist Eddie McFadden and drummer Donald Bailey) on "Buns a Plenty" and "Plum Nellie," and interacting with guitarist Kenny Burrell, drummer Blakey, and altoist Lou Donaldson on "Billie's Bounce." Excellent bop-oriented jam sessions.
