With a sturdy voice, slick songs, a nice smile, and a macho name, newcomer Chad Brock has all the ingredients for life in the country limelight. And no, that´s not necessarily a compliment (save maybe that part about the smile): such traits are a dime a dozen in Nashville circa 1998. The CD is replete with soapy ballads like "You Made a Liar Out of Me" and "Ordinary Life" and party-time pop such as the Cajun-tinged, girl-at-the-lake-themed "Evangeline" and the jangly "Bingo Bull´s-Eye" (sample lyric: "It´s the right girl, the right guy, bingo, bull´s-eye"). Chad Brock might be instantly digestible, but his music is about as exotic as mom´s meatloaf. Those in tune with current-day country tones might want to check out the debut of this Florida-born former linebacker; those into original artistry had best look elsewhere.
