简介: 《Giving You Up》 is a song by Australian singer and songwriter Kylie Minogue, released from her greatest hits compilation Ultimate Kylie (2004). Released on 28 March 2005 by Parlophone, the song was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Lisa Cowling, Paul Woods, Nick Coler, and Minogue and produced by Higgins and Xenomania. In 2003, Minogue announced to release her third major greatest hits compilation, which was her first album to consist recordings from 1987 to 2004, with new tracks recorded for the album, thus 《Giving You Up》 being one. The A-Side single "Made of Glass" was also recorded in the production, and was released as an A-Side single in Australia. Composed as a dance-pop inspired song with elements of electropop and house music, 《Giving You Up》 received favorable to mixed reviews from music critics, praising the production and composition, while some critics found it wasn't one of Minogue's strongest singles to be released. Commercially, 《Giving You Up》 received generally good charting success, peaking inside the top ten in countries including Spain, Australia and the United Kingdom. The song also managed to chart inside the top fifty in majority of the charts it entered. 《Giving You Up》 proved to be Minogue's last single release before her two year hiatus to battle breast cancer. Her next release would occur in late 2007. An accompanying music video for 《Giving You Up》 was shot by Alex and Martin, which featured Minogue as a giantess walking through a town, where people see her in surprise. Minogue then heads to a club where she meets a shy man who is interested in her. The music video received positive reviews, due to its special effects. Additionally, the song has been only performed once on one of her concert tours, this being Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour in 2005.
