Gerald LeVert proved his mettle as a lead singer; although not as explosive as his father, he had a similar gift for communicating a lyric, and he teamed nicely with brother Sean LeVert and Marc Gordon on ballads. LeVert's singles weren't as anthemic as the O'Jays', but they were established hitmakers on the urban contemporary scene.
