简介: Noctourniquet is the sixth full-length studio album by American progressive rock band The Mars Volta, scheduled for r elease on March 27, 2012. It is the first studio album to feature both drummer Deantoni Parks and synth-player Lars Stalfors, and the first not to include contributions from long-time keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens and guitarist John Frusciante. On January 5, 2012, a song taken from the album called "Zed and Two Naughts" was also confirmed to be included on the MLB 12: The Show soundtrack. "The Malkin Jewel", the album's lead single, was first broadcast on February 13, 2012. It was subsequently made available for general release on February 14. On February 13th, Rodriguez-Lopez revealed in a BBC Radio 1 interview that music for Noctourniquet had been recorded in 2009, shortly after mixing Octahedron. He claimed that Bixler-Zavala pulled him aside to say he couldn't keep up with Rodriguez-Lopez's pace, which resulted in an argument. Rodriguez-Lopez gave Bixler-Zavala room to work on the lyrics, but one and a half years later, there had been little progress - which resulted in a further argument. They agreed to find a middle ground, but Bixler-Zavala took a further year to complete his parts.
