简介: Duman (in English: "smoke", "mist") is a Turkish rock band. The band combines elements of traditional Turkish folk music with modern rock and grunge. Duman comprises Kaan Tangöze (vocals and rhythm guitar), Batuhan Mutlugil (lead guitar and backing vocals), and Ari Barokas (bass guitar and backing vocals).
They play alternative rock, and whilst highly affected by the elements of grunge, they also incorporate traditional Turkish and Oriental melodies in their songs. This is the reason they are also considered an “Anatolian rock” band. Duman has three permanent members: Kaan Tangoze on vocals and guitar (he composes almost every song and writes the lyrics); Ari Barokas on bass guitar and backing vocals; Batuhan Mutlugil on lead guitar and backing vocals. Duman means “smoke” in English. However, as specified by the band members, the name 'Duman' comes from one of their songs: 'Halimiz duman', a phrase meaning “our situation is dire”. So, 'Duman' also means “dreadful” or “dire” as well as “smoke”.
