Chrissie Hynde, best known for her work fronting the Pretenders, will release an album under her own name in June. But she doesn't think of Stockholm as a "solo album." "It's the first album with my name on it," Hynde, 62, says in a news release announcing the album's June 10 release. "But it's not a solo album. In fact, making this album was more of a collaboration than any Pretenders album ever was." Hynde, who describes Stockholm's music as "ABBA meets John Lennon," recorded the album with Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John at Ingrid Studios in Stockholm. The album also features contributions from Neil Young, John McEnroe and the Caesars' Joakim Ahlund. "So much of rock 'n' roll has become what I would call Glory Rock, with family values," Hynde says. "It's the irreverence in rock that was always the turn-on."
