简介: Tom Harrell effectively utilises all of his musical skills on the masterpiece TIME'S MIRROR. Not only is his trumpet and flugelhorn playing at an all-time high, his legendary composing and arranging prowess is the special magic that makes this project such an astounding work of art. Under his leadership are such modern masters as Don Braden, Joe Magnarelli,Conrad Herwig, and Carl Allen, among others, forming a large ensemble that ebbs and flows through Harrell's masterful works.
The powerful sound that the group achieves, whetherswinging madly or colourfully drifting through Harrell's many-layered textures, is an event to behold. Added to that are Harrell's creative original compositions like "Shapes", a dynamic piece that careens through many rhythmic variances, and stunning arrangements of standards such as "Autumn Leaves" and Bird's "Chasin' the Bird". The title track is a beautiful, dusky original that features some of the Harrell's most luscious flugelhorn work, tastefully supported by rich ensemble colourings as only he could create. Finally, the closing "Train Shuffle" is a happy romp that will get all toes tapping.
