by Scott YanowThis somewhat obscure Oliver Nelson date (which was also released on Chess) features Nelson heading a 12-piece group that includes such fine players as altoist Phil Woods, trumpeters Art Hoyle and Snooky Young and pianist Patti Bown. Nelson (on tenor) is generally the main soloist and two of the eight songs (six of which are his compositions) are somewhat known: "Hobo Flats" and "Teenie's Blues." This LP is long overdue to be reissued.
