Owen's material often doesn't match his ambitions, but producer John Leckie gives the album an attractive sheen, sounding like a cross between Radiohead and the Stone Roses. And the best moments of Green Man suggest that Owen could develop a style of his own, which makes the album a small triumph of sorts.
