The third album Freddie Hubbard cut for the CTI actually sounds more like the stuff he later did for Columbia than the rest of his CTI albums. The title song First Light is a beautiful atmospheric soundscape and his rendition of the Wings' Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey gives the song a whole different meaning. The line-up includes Hubert Laws, George Benson, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette and Airto Moreira. This CD reissue also contains Fantasy In D by Cedar Walton, later renamed and issued as Polar AC plus nice live version of First Light.
