While Stewart is primarily recognized in the U.S. for her late-'70s disco remakes of "Knock on Wood" and "Light My Fire," her '80s and '90s output is artistically more viable. This 1986 outing -- one-half produced by Giorgio Moroder, the other by the team of Bob Bolland and Ferdi Bolland -- is one of the highlights. Stylish tracks such as the funky "Love Ain't No Toy" and the contagious pop number "Lover to Lover" would have fared well within the U.S. market, but the album never made it to these shores. Stewart sounds energetic and fresh throughout, and even if the songs themselves are not always knockouts, they come off stronger than the substandard material which graced some of her earlier efforts, and are better produced.
