Nettwerk is proud to announce the signing of singer/songwriter Lily Kershaw to its label roster. The Los Angeles-based artist first caught the attention of audiences when her original song “As It Seems” was featured in the 2012 season finale of CBS hit show Criminal Minds. A second song, “Ashes Like Snow,” was featured again in the season finale of the series in May 2013. Both tracks are currently available as singles on iTunes and will appear on Kershaw’s debut full-length album, Midnight In The Garden, set for release on September 24, 2013. 　　 　　Midnight In The Garden, produced by John Fields, explores emotional landscapes, with heart clutching melodies that say what most people struggle to say themselves. The album takes root in the titans of folk music…those classic songsmiths who weave tapestries of sound with fingerpicking and tales of often unspoken truths. 　　 　　Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride says of the new signing, “Lily is simply an amazing artist who captures the spirit of Joni Mitchell with her authentic and emotive storytelling. She takes the listener on a journey.” 　　 　　A full tour is being planned around the album’s release, but in the meantime, the songstress will be playing intimate one-off shows in and around Los Angeles (the next of which is Tuesday, July 9 at Hotel Café), and will make her New York City debut on Wednesday, July 31 at Rockwood Music Hall. 　　 　　In song, Kershaw is an old soul, but in person, shes a kinetic 22 year-old. Shes ebullient and lively, quick with a joke and an infectious smile. Raised adjacent to the Hollywood machine, Kershaw offers an antidote to the long-mythologized Los Angeles glitz; shes authentic, and honest, self-effacing and, above all, she is herself. She feels the weight of the world, but through song, she wears it as an emblem of who she is.
