If Big Bad Voodoo Daddy sound like seasoned old pros on their seasonal 2013 album It Feels Like Christmas Time, theres a reason for that: its not only their tenth album in nearly 20 years, it also their third holiday album in that time. Given that preponderance of good cheer, its a fair assumption that BBVD may be running the risk of repeating themselves here, and it is true that theyve decided to revisit "Jingle Bells," this time replicating the classic, swinging Sinatra arrangement from the 50s, but that is the only song thats duplicated. Like 2004s Everything You Want for Christmas, this contains a fair share of originals mixed in alongside the classic covers. Unsurprisingly, BBVD choose secular songs over carols, showing a preference for such pop culture standards as "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Youre a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," and Chuck Berrys "Run Rudolph Run," giving every song here their signature swinging spin.
