简介: Billy Talent have announced the release of their new album, Afraid of Heights, which is set for release on July 29th. The first single from the album, "Afraid of Heights", was released exclusively through the Alternative Press Magazine online on May 12, 2016. The single was released for sale on major music platforms the following day. "Louder Than The DJ" was leaked on Reddit on May 26; and was added to Deezer and Spotify on June 03. The band have yet to comment. It is unknown if the song will serve as the album's second single.
Drummer Aaron Solowoniuk did not record drums for the album due to suffering from an MS relapse. Jordan Hastings from Alexisonfire, Cunter and Say Yes instead played the drums in his place.
Fans who preorder Afraid of Heights will receive an instant download of this single with five additional tracks to follow leading up to the album’s release. Those who order through the band’s webstore will have access to a host of additional package options, including a limited-edition custom Klipsch Groove portable Bluetooth speaker with the Afraid of Heights album artwork on the front grill. Go to billytalent.com for more details. In addition, all physical copies of the album will come with a unique download code that allows fans to access a special “Mastered for Headphones” edition of the album.
Of the album, the band said, “This record is about struggle, both within ourselves and within the society we live. It’s about asking questions. It’s about friendship and loyalty and it’s about choosing not accept things that don’t apply to us. That don’t represent us. It’s about believing in the person that’s reflected in the mirror and taking responsibility. It’s about the pressures that society creates and how we’re all trying to figure out where we fit in. It’s about following your dreams and knowing that when you get knocked down you have to get back up. It’s about listening to our planet and learning to respect her. It’s about love and loss and life… but more importantly it’s about the power of ROCK ’N ROLL”
In addition to the new album, the band have also been running a promotion with their fans through their website. They have shared the lyrics to “Afraid of Heights” and are encouraging fans to create something artistic from their interpretation of those lyrics. One lucky winner will be selected to win a signed guitar, a custom Klipsch Bluetooth speaker system, and a chance to meet the band on a future tour stop in their city.
