Conceptually linked to　My Special Guests　, Ladies Choice is a collection of duets with country music's biggest female stars of the time including,　Janie Fricke　,　Barbara Mandrell,Lacy J. Dalton,Deborah Allen, andEmmylou Harris. Though the liner notes claim that Jones personally selected his partners for these recordings, more than likely this was a marketing decision to pair the old-school singer with the up-and-coming country ladies of the '80s. The album did have two moderate hits ("Hallelujah, I Love You So" and "Size Seven Round (Made of Gold)") but rarely does this album strike anything above average.
