简介: Baby boomers love the sounds of the 60's and 70's. Excalibur does too, however, they do not look to recreate those sounds but to blend the best of them with some of the new sounds created since, thereby creating a new "classic" sound. Listen, and discover the magic in Excalibur!! Excalibur was a very popular band in the Joliet, IL area during the 1970's and 1980's. They postoned their musical interests when family and careers required they spend more time there. In 2004 the band decided to get together to see if they could blend what they liked in the past to some of what they liked in today's music. This required them to write and compose their own material. Unfortunately, not everyone's situation cold accommodate the new arrangements and over the next couple years some changes were made with people in the band. In May 2007, the band was introduced to mailman and drummer, Don Vogt. It was a perfect fit. Since then, Excalibur has cut a successful 12 song CD, played many venues, is in high demand for live shows and is working on their 2nd CD. Discover the magic in Excalibur's new classic sound. *********************************************************** Dan Karcz Keyboards, Vocals Dan was a founding member of Excalibur over 25 years ago. Dan also sings and is responsible for co writing "No Business Being with You". Inside the band, Dan is a highly creative collaborator, and is the one who does all the work of copying the recorded practice sessions to CD for the rest of the band to review. Among Dan's passions are playing & creating music with Excalibur, and movies. *********************************************************** John Mikuska Lead Guitar, Vocals John was a founding member of Excalibur over 25 years ago and has been playing for over 35 yrs. He plays a Fender Stratocaster and a Hummingbird acoustic guitar. John's on-stage actions and sounds has gotten him the nick name "Keith" after one of his biggest influences, Keith Richards. Others are John Lennon of the Beatles and Brian May of Queen. John wrote and sings several of the bands original hits including the popular heavier rock songs "Biker Babes in High Heels" & "Trouble". He also co wrote "No Business Being With You" with Excalibur keyboardist Dan Karcz. John exposes his softer side with songs like the sentimental "Because of You" and "Tonight" as well as the reflective "Long Ago". Inside the band John is the one who is most responsible for keeping the band aware of what new songs and sounds are out there. ********************************************************** John Rauworth Bass Guitar, Harmonica, Vocals John has been playing guitar for over 40 years. John was a founding member of Excalibur back in 1976. He left the band a few years later but returned after several years away. In 2004 he moved to Springfield yet could not stay away and commuted each week to practice with the band. John returning to the area permanently in mid 2008 came as welcomed news to the rest of the band. John is a talented musician on the piano, harmonica, lead guitar and the bass guitar he plays in Excalibur. Rau, as he is called by the band, is a creative and insightful songwriter. Rau is reponsible for several of the bands more emotionally moving original songs including , "April Fool"," Just a Little at a Time","Carry On", & "Bluer than Blue". Their sometimes slower tempo and rythmic words hide John's more rocking nature so well displayed in his songs "Around and Down" & the optomistic "Miracles & Dreams". John's musical influences are The Beatles, The Who, The Animals, Cream, and other groups of the 60's & 70's. *********************************************************** Don Vogt Drums / percussion First introduced to the drums by his father who was a drummer in the big band era, it wasn't until the Beatles landed that Don really grew to love the drums. During the 60's and 70's Don played with a variety of local rock bands and even a Polka band for awhile. During the 1980's to mid 90's he performed with the band Straight-No-Chaser playing everything from Rock to Jazz to Country. He has continued to work with them on some original jazz. He also has worked with the Droogan Project in Bolingbrook, IL. Don's musical diversity and studious love of the drums has added a new dimension to Excalibur's original songs and the band as a whole. Inside the band Don is the driving force not only with his creative steady beats but with his practice toward perfection attitude keeping the band tight. ***********************************************************
