简介: For all their hard work and perseverance, New Wave of British Heavy Metal survivors Saxon simply couldn't get a break, and even their finest efforts seemed to be falling upon deaf ears during the unforgiving, MTV-obsessed mid-'80s. The band's seventh album, 1985's excellent Innocence Is No Excuse, was a good case in point, as it contained a number of promising tracks that somehow shot right over the heads of the average heavy metal-buying public. One such track was the well-crafted, seemingly American rock radio-ready "Rock'n'Roll Gypsy," which was given its second self-titled release in an extended play configuration in 1986. Besides the title song itself, this in-demand EP contained what many consider to be Saxon's finest album outtake, the astoundingly fast and heavy thrasher "Krakatoa," as well as a live medley of fan favorites "Heavy Metal Thunder," "Taking Your Chances," "Stand up and Be Counted," and "Warrior."
