简介: Hard to believe that it has been twenty years since Billy Joel made his last pop album, River Of Dreams. Yet, he has decided to retire from making new music. Which is honestly a sad note, but his classics have never lost their luster with time, spirit, and strength. His classics have definitely withstood the test of time, especially with so many artists today, losing themselves from making a good song last the test of time. There have been so many moments of Billy Joel's life that have delivered well since River Of Dreams came out, he has performed a swan song concert at Shea Stadium, which delivered brilliantly, toured and delivered well with his classics, and still continued to draw the crowds as the "Piano Man." But with Valentine's Day coming up, he is releasing his music as a new Love Songs record, but there could've been more for its money.
She's Got A Way: Love Songs is a compilation of Billy Joel's love songs from his three-decades of making music. The collection does include some of his biggest ballads, but there could have honestly been more bang for its buck in the list. The songs have been remastered well, in each and every song, and it is nice to hear some of his biggest songs in a album that are here including An Innocent Man, the 52nd Street hit Honesty, and the understated This Is The Time. The collection of songs holds up better from the later album he had released as ballads like The Bridge and Storm Front, but it does overshadow some of his classics that could've been considered for this love songs album but were not on this album like Baby Grand with the legendary Ray Charles, River Of Dreams, Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel,) and Uptown Girl to just name a few. Instead of his lesser-known songs like Travelin'Prayer and Temptation.
Overall, despite a few songs being overlooked, She's Got A Way: Love Songs isn't a definitive must buy for die hard fans of Billy Joel's music, or a curious peak into his music for anyone who is new to the Piano Man's music, but a filler for anyone that is really looking to go back and hear what made good music still stand out today, where so many artists have made cheap music for the past several years, where voices sounded robotic and lacking true heart. Billy Joel's music will always stay definitive until the end of time, but there was more that could've been put here for anyone that has never heard Billy's music before.
