简介: SADIE READIES DEBUT EP “WAITING FOR THE MOMENT” FOR DEC6th
MUSIC AND PRODUCTION BY TED MASON (OF “MODERN ENGLISH”)
New York based indie pop vocalist Sadie is readying her debut EP Waiting For The Moment for a Dec 6th release date. For this singer/multi-instrumentalist the moment is now with six songs inspired by 60’s girl group pop and updated with a modern singer/songwriter radio flair led by the single “For All That You Do.” Packed with melodies and hooks, Sadie’s EP features songwriting, instrumental assistance and production from Ted Mason known for his work as a member of multi-platinum group Modern English (Melt With You) as well as president of Mi5 Recordings. Truly a New York story Sadie initially met Mason while working as a Maitre’ D at a popular west side eatery that Mason frequented.
Sadie recalls “we became friends and around that time I was touring as a backing vocalist for La La Brooks of The Crystals (Da Doo Ron Ron) and we bonded on our love of pop from that time period. He kept saying ‘I gotta work with you’ and one weekend I went away and when I came back he wrote the skeletons of all of the songs that are on the EP for me.” Mason says of the project “I get a thrill out of developing and working with new artists. I have known Sarah “Sadie” Brummer for years and I had time between projects to jump in and give her a creative hand in developing a unique recording, which I hope will bring her lots of success if not financially, emotionally.”
Recorded at a frantic pace in seven days at the Cutting Room NYC because of Mason’s schedule, the songs benefit from a live spontaneous feel. Speaking on the debut EP Sadie says “The lyrics are cheeky and flirty for the most part. They are about living life, letting go and enjoying the ride,” says The Beatles fan. These inhibition free qualities are at the forefront on the EP’s title track. For Brummer, that song relates to her brother’s battle with Leukemia. “We were all waiting for the moment when he was going to come out of the hospital and be better,” says Brummer, who credits her brother for inspiring her to follow her dreams. The EP also includes “Gothenburg” a trippy song about Sadie’s experience in that Swedish city. She recalls “in late June when I went the sun doesn’t set until 10:15pm and then rises at 4:15am. It messes with your internal clock because it feels like night but the sun is shining and if you are a foreigner you tend to fall into a trippy confused state.”
With a childhood that spanned time in Germany, Washington State and Virginia, Sadie’s passion for music led her to take vocal lessons, viola and piano during her formative years. Sadie earned a degree in musical theatre at Indiana University and has a deep background in classical music. Sadie has begun to play shows through NYC and Brooklyn with a live band playing material from the EP and plans to announce a string of dates shortly.
