All these are phrases that can be used to describe this Virgin Island songstress/entertainer (“RUDY”). Rudy, has been striving, aiming and hitting the Eastern-US, Caribbean and Canada upcoming artist music scene by storm. Her versatile ability of interweaving Soca, R&B, and Reggae music, is one of a kind. Toiya Isaac better known as the artist ("Rudy") has developed and devoted her ambition towards mastering her musical ‘Gift’.
During her adolecent years, she would accompany her father (“DJ Calabash”), a musical genius in his time, who played at numerous engagements and events in the Virgin Islands. He would indulge her to entertain the crowd by free-styling on various dancehall 'Riddims'. By the age of 16, she began her own musical journey and has been striving since.
With such enthusiasm and passion for success she traveled to Atlanta in hopes of securing a recording contract. Upon her arrival, one of her early achievements was gaining entrée into several musical competitions. The songstress obtained the prestigious title of female DJ of the year in 2000. This achievement began to open doors for ("Rudy"). Many event directors, promoters, dj's and producers were astounded by her panache, lyrical content, and stage performance. As well as her ability to captivate crowds effortlessly.
After many failed and un-successful attempts in trying to secure a major recording contract, ("Rudy") decided to work on her first reggae single in summer of 2007("The Other Side"), which was released on the famous ‘Ghetto Blues Riddim’ produced by Jamaican Producer – Christopher Birchill. The Song received notoriety in the eastern-hemisphere of the world – Japan. It can be tracked for reviews and accolades online; the song was released on ‘UNITY GOLD 2007 COMPILATION CD’.
With musical requests coming in high demand for the songstress, ("Rudy") decided to journey back to her native Island of St. Thomas U.S.V.I in 2OO8. She attenuated no time getting back in the studio to begin working on releasing more vitalized singles like the dancehall flavored "Come Betta". “Come Betta” was released under management company, Danja Production in the summer of 2008 and picked up on over 100 radio stations world-wide, this song became a female anthem in the Virgin Islands and surrounding Islands. ("Rudy") began working with the talented British Virgin Island producer Lincoln Ward who produced the groovy ‘riddim’ ("One Night"). Upon hearing the track, she instinctively blessed the ‘riddim’ with her symptomatic sweet-melodic voice with (“Closer”). Released by Danja Production in the winter of 2008, instantly became an international and local radio favorite. (“Closer”) held the #1 spot on three caribbean radio charts for over four weeks during January-March 2009, then finally landing number #6 on (“Dr. Jay's Soca Therapy”) on Canada’s one and only Toronto-Lime.
This singer/songwriter worked diligently and within four-weeks created an album ("It's RUDY" – Soca Edition). The album contained songs like ("Hold On") produced by Alton Bertise, (“Closer”), and fast paced (“HardDrive”), produced by Lincoln Ward and the emotionally inspiring ("Dreams") relating to her audience about being motivated regardless of trials and tribulation.
Within several years she has propelled her stage performance to such a professional level, that she has been enshrine to grace the stage with great acts like Grammy Award winning (“Sean Paul”), (“Lady Saw”), (“Allison Hines”), (“Tyrese”), (“Trina”), (“Shurwayne Winchester”), (“Collie Buddz”), (“Buju Banton”), (“Denise Belfone”), (“Jahcure”) and (“Morgan Heritage”) just to name a few.
