简介: Wendell Moore was born in Memphis Tennessee in 1958. As is the case with many of the top Black music artist, his earliest experiences were rooted in the church. Learning music for Wendell came naturally, in that his mother played the piano and her guidance led him into the creative area of music. He excelled in school and especially in music and played with severa1 groups at an early age. Some of those performers included Maurice White, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, Quincy Jones and others.
Quick to understand and explore harmonic variances along with understanding the depths and complexities of music theory, he soon found a creative spot at Texas Southern University. His raw talent and musical prowess became a constant challenge for college professors as he effortless explored and stretched the boundaries of his special musical talents. While the core of his creative endeavors centered on the piano, he had found an almost boundless frontier in which to flourish as his guitar skills began to emerge. In the late 1980's and 1990's he went on tour with several of the groups he had worked with as a young musician. Included were acts such as Anita Ward, Rufus Thomas, Al Green, Isaac Hayes and Temptress. He also found himself writing and co-producing numerous songs (several are currently generating substantial royalties in the European Market). Other efforts included collaborations with Phillip Michael Thomas on various productions.
Over the past few years Mr. Moore has spent much of his time performing in churches in Southern California and more recently in the Bakersfield area. He is currently collaborating with several writers and performers to release a "smooth jazz" and a gospel CD. He has become a main stay at "PJ's", a local jazz and blues nightclub, where his multifaceted style has quickly pushed him to the top of local jazz performers. Mr. Moore has committed to giving back to the youth in his community and conducts music training seminars for young musicians as well as providing individual instruction to up-and-coming young artists. He also finds time to visit and perform for shut-ins and patients at local hospitals and convalescent facilities.
With a strong faith, unlimited skills and growth potential, the best is yet to come.
