简介: Las Vegas guitarist and session ace Steve Levine has performed with artists as diverse as the late George Burns to the smooth jazz artist Phil Perry. Steve has performed on the Las Vegas strip for over ten years and has been performing and recording for over thirty years.
This album of much loved Christmas carols reflects the warmth of the holiday season.
This CD features beautifully recorded electric and acoustic guitars. Many of the arrangements have piano, bass, drums and lush strings. Here are some recording notes from Steve.
1. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" A bossa nova with influences of Lee Ritenour and George Benson.
2." We Three Kings" This smooth jazz waltz goes down like butta’. Sounds a bit like the classic Charley Brown arrangements. George Benson and Pat Metheny influences heard on this one.
3. "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" Haunting, Ethereal, Reverent.
4. "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" I cried when I recorded this one. Not because of me but because of HIM. Hope you feel the love too.
5. "O Come All Ye Faithful" I don’t know if this one was ever recorded as a swing but I had to do it. George Benson influence comes through on this track.
6. “Greensleeves” When I recorded this one I imagined snow flakes falling on a cold Christmas eve. Can you see them falling? Brrrrrr.
7 "Silent Night" I was thinking of Nat King Cole when arranging this track. I feel warm all over from the first three notes. Larry Carlton influence on this track.
8. "Gloria" A bit of funk and Latin on this track. I had to add the castanets during the solo. Makes me smile when I hear them. Some people have said this track takes them to a warm tropical place when they hear it.
9. "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" Smooth and warm says it all.
10. "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" I had to record this one with a samba feel. Quite a twist on the original arrangement of this classical piece by Bach.
11. "Joy To The World" Had a blast recording this one on acoustic and electric guitars. Reflects the joy of Christmas morning. Way happy. Makes you want to say yee haa! at the end.
Please enjoy these Christmas classics with your family and friends.
Merry Christmas
