T.H.U.G. WORLD MUSIC
(True Soldiers Humbly Under God)
Tha Gift (formerly KnitWit) is San Diego's most innovative, positive and unique conscious rapper. Tha Gift incorporates reality and spirituality with a positive state of mind in his music compositions and live performances. With these elements in place, it is easy for today's youth to gain insight from a young man who has walked the path of and ex gang member. Since he was eleven years old, Tha Gift has been producing and bringing heat to the microphone by bringing real life experiences into his music/ministry which brings about a passion for life that touches one's soul. It is this passion, which inspires him daily to combat society's contradictions through songs of change, hope and solutions. And this comes from someone that knows what they're talking about because he actually lived it. Because his career began in the secular field, this gave him a slight edge to his gospel rap sound. This also gave him opportunities to perform with the heavy hitters of the rap industry. Here is where he learned and perfected his craft with gold and platinum artist and producers such as Whodeni, Curtis Blow, Tash, NWA, Krayzie Bone, Tonex, Montell Jordan, Snoop Dog, Eric Norquist (Krayzie and Bizzy Bone), Tony C (Bones Thugs-N-Harmony) and Battle Cat. In February of 2000 he recorded two songs on the soundtrack for the independent film "Knockout" directed by Lorenzo Doumani. This also gave him the opportunity to perform with the legendary Grammy Award winner Natalie Cole on her 25th Anniversary Tour (2000). They remade two of her greatest hits, "Our Love" and "Sophisticated Lady", not yet released, but coming soon. Currently he has a song placed on the soundtrack to "Gettin Played", starring Vivica A. Fox and Carmen Electra.
In 2004 Tha Gift chose a much different path to spread his positive message of the gospel aka the Good News. With his debut gospel cd "Off Wit Da Dirt", featuring a smashing up tempo track produced and sung with Grammy and multi Stellar Award winner Tonex, Tha Gift has amassed a large fan base. Currently he is the top requested gospel artist on AM 1040 the only gospel radio show in southern California. Just by being where he is today, he is a Living Testimony to what God can do if you let him.
