发行时间:2011-01-04
发行公司:CD Baby
简介: Acknowledgements:
Recorded at Ginger Studio, Jan 2011. Production and engineering: Jay McEwen. Thanks to MoonDogs Cafe, Galashiels.
Notes:
Formed in late 2009 Torino hail from the Scottish borders - mostly around the Galashiels area. Notable music highlights from The borders over recent years have included Frightened Rabbit and Dawn of the Replicants. There is either something in the water or the fact there there is practically nothing to do that does not involve wandering for miles in the countryside that means that Torino formed from a group of people who had been involved in music in the area for many years with many connections finally got their act together and decided to write some songs.
Torino blend many influences from pop culture ranging from song complexity similar to Karnivool to lilting melody lines that would be happy on a Radiohead album. Torino are happiest however when creating the "Torino" sound.
Part of growing up is understanding where you fit in. Torino understands that musical completeness rests in the ability to craft a mature and serious musical soundscape. That's descriptive bollocks for "less is more" and Torino believes that melody is above all else.
After some stints Playing some acoustic sets and a barnstorming performance at the 2010 "rock at the racecourse" festival Torino retired to the studio to make "the album" that describes best where the band want to go.
Currently promoting some of the material with a view to gigging initially in the Edinburgh area
Torino are:
Paul Blackwood - vocals. Classically trained Paul has had a varied career the highlight of which was touring with a band called Veer and winning the T-break (T in the Park) competition with them some years back. Previous winners have included Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol. So that's no mean feat. Described as an "incredible talent" he remains the Borders best kept vocal secret.
Jay McEwan - guitar / vocals - Hugely talented songwriter/producer and music engineer. Worked previously with Kinky Radar and numerous local bands.
Matty McEwan - Bass guitar - the young pup. Huge bass talent and makes the band look relevant and sexy.
Mikey Forbes - Drums - jack of all trades as far as percussion goes mikey's you tube videos of him playing to classical pieces is just the tip of the iceberg. Funny, intense and sometimes drunk.
Mike Gray - guitar - small, perfectly formed adjunct to the perfect rhythmn section. Happy with metal/ pop or anything. But does moan a lot.
Stevie Strafford - guitar - guitar genius and songwriting marvel joining the Torino collective as an added creative force. Unequalled talent.
