Composed by Crista Phelps, Classic Psalms is a compilation of classical-style arrangements that are based on tunes taken from the 1912 version of the Psalter. About the Artists:
Eric Phelps received his Bachelors of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Masters of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes College of Music. His primary teachers were Richard Rognstad, Peter Rejto, Judith Glyde, Michael Haber, and Timothy Eddy.
Eric has participated in music festivals in North America and Europe, including master classes with Lynn Harrell, Janos Starker, and Yo-Yo Ma. Eric served as Associate Principal cellist for the West Shore Symphony in Muskegon, Michigan, substitutes in the Grand Rapids Symphony (Michigan), and is the cellist of the Symphonie Quartet. He also teaches cello at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI. He plays a 1995 Stanley Kiernoziak cello made in the shop of William Harris Lee in Chicago.
Crista Phelps received her Bachelors of Arts in Music from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, where she studied composition, clarinet, and piano. Crista is experienced in composing as well as arranging sacred pieces for various instrumental combinations. She performs and accompanies on the piano for special events.
Eric and Crista married in 2003 and have been performing together since 2001.
