简介: The title "Laughing, for The Wrong Reasons" comes from a famous story of Dave Chappelle exodus from his hit comedy central show. As a visiting executive laugh a little two hard at a character that skewered racial stereotypes. Dave Chappelle ponder to himself if the executive understood the subtext of his jokes or viewed him as a buffoon. Dave left his show because he viewed the man as “Laughing, for the Wrong Reasons.” Similarly Jimmy ValenTime has walked the line between eastcoast traditionalist and records that satirized the current radio/video market. The third and final Jimmy ValenTime album brings the man behind the songs into tighter focus as songs explore grief, loss, and violence removed from tongue in cheek lyrics of previous efforts.
"Bad Decisions" details the way two people react to a causal hook up that leaves the both of them empty. Jimmy explains “I wrote the song for a real person, somebody I was friends with that always seemed to make the wrong choices. She was a sweet girl, but always on the verge of self-destruction. I tried to imagine what cause her to be the way she was.”
Jimmy Valentime 2011 single and tribute to Nas "Take It in Blood" gets a remastering and is finally available for sale. Jimmy was able to get the blessing of his idol Nas record label Columbia to clear the record in time for the album. Jimmy adds “It's an honor to include this cover on my album and I feel it lets people see where I came from and who I was inspired by.”
"Movin On Pt.2" is about learning that some things cannot be changed, as Jimmy ValenTime and Carlos Ferragamo rap about loss and acceptance. This song is a remix of the fan favorite track “Movin On.” While Carlos and Jimmy deal with other high-school hardships that happened during the same time frame. The simple video shows a train moving through the South Bronx, capturing the feeling of the track. The song is available on all major platforms.
“The Spectacular Now” with production by Willie Green who has produced for and worked with Billy Woods and Wiz Khalifa. “The Spectacular Now” is a lyrical exercise as jimmy mocks rappers who can’t rhyme and use gimmicks and social media to get popular.
"Far Away" was a collaboration recorded back in 2011 with Ro James, who is now gaining serious buzz with his song " Permission."
