Club Heaven is half original pieces and half painterly arrangements of seldom-heard classics like Monk's Pannonica and Ugly Beauty, Mal Waldron's gorgeous Soul Eyes, and Scott LaFaro's brilliant Gloria's Step. Daniel Thomas is a guitarist, writer, and arranger influenced by the north country of Minnesota and the eucalyptus and palm-covered hillsides of Santa Barbara. His original pieces range from guitar duets, to club-inspired dance beats, to film-score music and orchestral elegies.
