简介: Terry B. is a native of Guyana, South America. Terry realized at a young age that he wanted to be a singer. He migrated to Canada with his family in the 70’s. During his school years, Terry performed at school assemblies and received many music awards for his performances. Terry also performed at many private parties, he even lied about his age to get into clubs and perform on stage.
After graduating, Terry chose welding as his career. While working at his chosen career during the week, Terry performed at many Clubs on the weekends, slowly building his music career. Terry was lead singer for a few bands, most notably, Sage, Sapphire and Electric Vision. While with Sage, he was surprised one night, when Johnny Braff of Shower of Tears fame, dropped in at the club where they were performing. He sang a couple of songs with Terry and was very complimentary of what he called Terry’s “big” voice. Over the next couple of years, Terry performed with Jimmy Ray, Derek and Reggie Paul, Michael Thompson and the legendary - world famous pianist, Dennis D'Souza.
Terry took a break from the music business when his first child was born and was a spectator to the business until 1999 when he returned to the music scene by releasing a Christmas album. IF EVERYDAY WAS LIKE CHRISTMAS is a collection of Christmas classics done in Terry B’s style; a little R&B, Soca, Reggae and Salsa.
Gabriel Napora, a music video director said the following about Terry and If Everyday Was Like Christmas.
“Terry B is a triple treat. He can sing, produce and arrange as evidenced by his first album, IF EVERYDAY WAS LIKE CHRISTMAS”. Utilizing musical styles as different and varied as R&B, Reggae and Calypso. Terry created a CD that will stand the test of time for many Christmases to come……………Terry has developed a style that is unmistakable his as witnessed on his first album, If Everyday Was Like Christmas. Being the consummate workaholic and perfectionist, Terry is hard at work on his second album, which will showcase songs written by him, and which will delve into Terry’s experimental side. If his first CD is anything to go by, his second will be well worth the wait.”
Terry spent the next three years promoting this CD and doing many live performances – at the same time, Terry was hard a work writing songs for his next CD. All his hard work came to fruition in 2002 when he released his second album, THESE MOMENTS LAST FOREVER. This CD features nine original tracks and three covers. This CD was launched November 30th, 2002 at the Richmond Hill Community Centre. With a seven piece band and two backup singers, Terry heated up the very cold, snowy night for a packed room.
THESE MOMENTS LAST FOREVER has received great reviews – Louise Dorsey – daughter of the legendary entertainer, Englebert Humperdinck, said that Terry’s version of her song (which she wrote for her father) “I know that we have loved before” was fantastic. She said that Terry sounded like her Dad.
The reggae track, My Lover and My Friend has enjoyed great interest and much radio play. The dance remix of the Temptations classic “My Girl” has been released on vinyl as requested by many disc jockeys. It made quite a splash in Jamaica and has become a party favourite.
