The name comes from a poem by William Wordsworth entitled "Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey." Founded by Cistercian monks in 1131 A.DO., the abbey still stands today and is a hauntingly beautiful reminder of the lives and faith of so many in centuries past. The music of Tintern Abbey is as varied and honest as the many souls which once graced the halls of that monastery. Songs of love and loss, hope and despair, Rob writes with a refreshing and vulnerable edge. Rounding out Tintern Abbey is Josh Allen, Rob's older brother and guitarist/producer, and Truman Attlee Penn IV minister of drum beats. Old, new, broken, rebuilt, torn, healed, forgotten, restored. Be part of the future of Tintern Abbey. The Band: Rob Allen - Vocals, Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Piano Jonathan Hape - Electric Guitar Kyle Murphy - Bass Guitar Holbrook Riles - Drums, Percussion Additional Studio Musicians: Megan Oswalt - Violin Josh Allen - Electric Guitar Truman Attlee Penn IV - Drums, Percussion Press: Cavalcade of Life The News Journal Rob Allen's longstanding affair with music began in his garage bands with his brother at age 13. In the course of nine years, the 22 year-old Mansfield OH, native has experienced a lot and has compiled it into his debut release, Cavalcade, under the project name, Tintern Abbey. Tintern Abbey echoes the sounds of male singer/songwriters, with John Mayer immediately coming to mind. Allen also refers to music his parents listened to, such as Phil Keaggy and Glass Harp, as he was growing up. It's a comparison Allen regards as a compliment. If anything, Allen should be applauded for his focus on the songs he's released so far, replete with well-orchestrated arrangements coupled with acoustic guitar and Allen's vocals at the forefront. "It's an 11-song walk through of my life, particularly in the last two years," Rob Allen says of Cavalcade. "I embellish somewhat because you can make a good song great when you step out of your skin for a little bit. There are a lot of ups and downs and the cd follows them." In the live setting, Allen said to expect a traditional band setup, with room for some improvisation. Tintern Abbey includes his brother, Josh Allen, as well as drummer Lee Penn, musician Jonathan Hape, violinist Megan Oswalt, and cello/bassist Kyle Murphy. "When you have a band name, it tends to open up more avenues," Allen said. "I like having creative control, but there's something about having a band you can't get with just one person," Allen concludes. by Norm Narvaja (Mansfield News Journal) Live Performance Debut Show Response "I was very impressed with the live concert," Burton said. "I have not heard a more professional studio production in a long time", Burton said when speaking about the quality of the record "Cavalcade". Burton Stahl from the former band Music Explosion - #2 Hit in the Nation - "A Little Bit of Soul"
