简介: CD DESCRIPTION: FAUST (ranked #5 DJ in the world, produced the 1st turntablist album ever) and SHORTEE's (Playboy's 50th Anniversary tour DJ, Power 106fm PowerMixer, URB's NEXT 100, & top-ranked female DJ/Turntablist in the world) highly-anticipated joint debut album, is a collection of dynamite anthems for the dance floor. Each song brings hip-hop essentials to the future, focusing on the music, merging the artistry of instrumentation with the craft of beat making. Tracks boast booming drum breaks, tribal percussion, digified wah wah guitars, & dizzying basslines fused with swingin' jazz riffs. The duo keep the drumbeat in the driver's seat while layering soulful barrages of sonic waves. Each anthem is a sureshot party cut, funky & fun to listen to and with the energy DJs need to keep the party moving. Think Major Force West, Cut Chemist, Shadow, Cold Cut, DJ Food, Jack Dangers. ARTIST PRESS QUOTES: "Faust & Shortee's seamless 4 turntable mix is earning them a growing international impression." SPIN MAGAZINE "They are what they appear to be: Two of the hardest working multi-faceted DJ/Producers in the country." SOUTHEAST PERFORMER "These two magnificent turntablist albums from DJ Faust & DJ Shortee blur the line between the real & the sublime, the concrete & the abstract, hip hop & EVERYTHING! Succeeding where others failed, these albums give their respected DJs the breadth and depth to take you deep inside the turns & twists of their own minds” URB MAGAZINE "Pigeonholing turntablist husband & wife team Faust & Shortee into a single genre of Djing is shortsighted at best, narrow-minded at worst. Running the full gamut of music ranging from their base in underground hip-hop (which has led to world-wide praise and a spot in Doug Pray's acclaimed 2002 DJ documentary "Scratch"), to delvings into hard Chicago House, dabblings in rare groove, and finally into full on Drum & Bass pressure, the versatility shines one mixed CDs like Shortee's "Casa de Playboy" Latin House mix, and the drum & bass-laden "Urban Assault"." RINSE MAGAZINE "The concept of tandem DJs is nothing new (Bobcat and Cut Creator, Cut Chemist and Numark), but while plenty of DJs share records, techniques, and ideas (in other words DJing space) how many DJs also share a house, musical history, and life (physical and emotional space)? Faust & Shortee have done so for years, and when life and DJing coalesce, amazing things happen." FRANK MAGAZINE "Masterful" VICE MAGAZINE "Besides the skills & drum fills, the records & record breakin', Faust & Shortee provide the chemistry, the energy in the room." XLR8R MAGAZINE “With four hands on decks, their fast cuts & masterful mixes change up the beat so fast it keeps your feet moving out from under you, while Faust & Shortee pack in multiple layers of sound & rhythm.” ELEMENTAL MAGAZINE “Expect to be surprised by what may be the most innovative crew on earth for the time being!” FLAGPOLE MAGAZINE “If you’ve never seen Faust & Shortee live, it’s like watching the cooking channel in fast forward. The two stand side by side, hovering over the decks and mixing up all imaginable sounds & aural textures to the crowds delight.” THE SCENE ARTIST BIO: Faust and Shortee’s career has been a series of firsts. Each of their debut albums set musical benchmarks —Faust’s "Man or Myth" was the first solo turntablist album, and Shortee’s "The Dreamer" was the first solo album by a female DJ/producer. Joining forces with the world-famous DJ Craze, they concocted the "Fathomless EP", releasing the first ever all-turntable/scratching drum & bass tracks. Even before they broke new ground with their releases, both were blazing trails in clubs spinning hardhouse, techno & hip-hop shows bringing their uncanny chemistry and raw musical talent to dance floors all over the world.
