简介: Every 5 years or so, the clouds see fit to open up and bless us earth beings with a group of otherworldly individuals that bear the music of the gods; individuals who, by the very definition of the word, should have never come together, but for stroke of chance and genius. This usually occurs during times of creative depression and extreme musical duress.
This is one of those times.
Passport is made up of three talents:
Collin Gibson, codename: SAT PHONE
Jawz of Life, codename: WORLDWIDE LOCAL
Coco Jones, codename: CURRENT-C
These three individuals have, in their own ways, created major buzz about themselves in the underground Atlanta music scene. Having done shows everywhere from Apache Cafe to The Georgia World Congess Center, from Florida to Minnesota, and from Garmish, Germany to Bangkok, Thailand, they were all seasoned veterans in the performance curcuit. Their situations have ranged from placements on television (Oxygen Network's "Bad Girl's Club",) to being members of organizations such as IMA and The Dungeon Family, to writing and producing for Teddy Riley's production company, The Artist Factory.
And then their stars collide.
After meeting at Apache Cafe's "Tru Skool Tuesdays" underground hip hop night and seeing eachother several times there after, a mutual respect began to form among the trio, eventually leading to them collaborating on songs. The more they recorded together, the more the chemistry was felt and the more it grew. They eventually realized that they were not 3 people making songs together, but that they were essentially one group. As the sound began to take form, so did the group, until Passport became a real, living, breathing monster in the music world.
Having been compared to such supergroups as The Fugees, N.E.R.D., and The Black Eyed Peas, the group mixes their individual talents (Collin Gibson's and Jawz of Life's underground hip hop backgrounds and Coco Jones' soulful singing and lyricism) with a sound straight from the future.
Ray Murray of Organized Noize said it best:
"This is so refreshing... exactly what (we) need"
The future is here, and their name is Passport.
