“Live at Mick Fleetwood's” 　　One of the best live blues albums of the 1990s was Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers' Live at B.B.King's in Memphis from 1993. That album won the Indie Award in 1994 for Best Blues Recording. Now fans have another live album from the same year recorded at Mick Fleetwood's short-lived club in Alexandria, VA. Rod wanted to release these exuberant performances to show the incredible musicianship, versatility, and tightness of one of the finest Mighty Flyers line-ups in his four decades of leading the band. 　　Guitarist Alex Shultz, drummer Jimi Bott, bassist Bill Stuve, and the irrepressible Honey Piazza on piano are also heard on Live at B.B. King's. Having produced two shows with this cast for the Bucks County Blues Society in the early Nineties, I can testify to their excellence. Song selection and overall length are the main differences between this and Live at B.B. King's. Whereas the Memphis sets contained mostly originals, the tunes here are mainly covers of harmonica innovators Little Walter and George “Harmonica” Smith (Rod's major influences) and R&B legends Big Joe Turner and Percy Mayfield (among others). However, signature originals like “Tangled with a Woman,” “Bad, Bad Boy,” and “Hear Me Knockin'” (that didn't appear on the Memphis sets) are mixed in with the shuffles, slow blues, mid-tempo twisters (all with ample solos), and several showstopping instrumentals including two T-Bone Walker inspired fret burners, a rampaging boogie-woogie piano and drum duet (inspired by Otis Spann and S.P.
