简介: by Backroads Music/HeartbeatsAngels in Disguise marks Kim Robertson's debut as a singer, with her vocals gracing seven of the album's 15 tunes. Her ethereal yet poignant voice blends in nicely with her Celtic harp on this collection that mixes traditional Scottish and Irish pieces, as well as one Japanese tune, with original compositions. Two of her own songs are sung in French in addition to her haunting rendition of the lovely Scottish ballad "Wild Mountain Thyme" and the original title track with its plea for spiritual understanding ("It's time to open my eyes/Time to realize/We are all angels in disguise"). Dulcimer, tasteful electric guitar and percussion add spice to the arrangements but special kudos go to Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, one of the most senistive and skilled musicians playing in this genre. Appearing on seven of the tunes, he brings depth and liveliness to the proceedings, particularly shining on the instrumental "All or None" where the restrained passion of his violin beautifully complements Robertson's elegant harp. Angels in Disguise adds a new dimension to the growing body of Kim Robertson's recorded work and is a welcome new direction for this established artist.
