Samantha Chen began her journey into the world of music when she took part in her first National Chinese Songwriting Competition in 2003 organised by the National University of Singapore. Her first runner-up achievement for best melody and lyrics in this competition spurred her interest in music and since then, she has been writing and performing different styles of music, drawing her inspiration from Jazz, R&B and Pop landmark artistes such as Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and A*mei. Her bilingualism forms the centre of her musical identity and in her songs, she is always seeking to find a balance between these two diverse forms of melodies. Besides writing and performing songs of her own, Samantha has also written songs for regional artistes like Kelly Chen and Cilla Kung. 　　 　　She is currently performing at Wala Wala on Tuesday nights from 7pm - 9pm and The Beer Market on Friday nights from 7.30pm -9.30pm with her band, 3 In A Crowd (3IAC).
