简介: The songs are a little different every time we perform them. They never get stale and we explore as we go. Each of these songs has been gigged at least a hundred times. The songs begin as an idea sung and played into the recorder on a phone, then they take shape over a period of time, usually a few months. Almost all the songs are still changing as we perform them, with "swimming" being the exception to this rule. We gig the songs until we find the way that each of them grooves, until finding that groove is effortless and enjoyable every time. At the end of the gig we walk off the stage with a strange feeling, sort of joyful, sweaty, satisfied; I feel slightly manic for a day or two after a gig. Most of the songs lack literal meaning, the lyrics are symbols and help to convey a feeling but don't usually tell a story. None of the songs are political, we don't have a cause, we just want to make people at our gigs feel something and lose themselves a little in the music. We want to tap into something a little bit primitive or below rational thought. Although the fact that the songs change so much means that they aren't performed as a ritual, there is something of the ritual about the way we do the gigs. We put aside normal self and just play; we play with the songs as we play.... We recorded them in two sessions at the studio. We were in 3 separate rooms but could see each other and we just played the songs " live"; we played them through twice and then just chose the best version. We did it that way so that we could capture the feel of our gigs and so that we didn't suck the life out of the songs. I hope you enjoy them.
