Imagine Al Green, Jimi Hendrix, Biggie, Prince and George Clinton with three female vocalists and you have (S)HE. The group—Andrea Scruggs, Sophia Johnson and Nat’e McNair, Vocals, plus Matt Tuttle, lead guitar and Tom Laskas, bass—combines multiple genres and modern and classical influences to create a sound that is fresh and socially aware. 　　Seredipity led “Drea”, Sophia and Nat’e, who had been singing together for eight years, to Tom and Matt who happened to hear the girls singing together on that fatefilled night at a downtown club. Musical muses being what they are, and sometimes it’s a struggle, connected the talented, versatile musicians and Big Barn proposed collaboration. The Band united under the original name (S)HE and signed, soon after, to Big Barn Records.
