简介: NEWBLUECITY
Newton's father was a painter(thats a watercolor of New York on the cover of Newton's newest CD). His mother was a musician and a music teacher. Now if artists breed artists, you know a little something about thier son.
A prolific singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Newton is out with a new collection of original music, NEWBLUECITY. Where his recent releases tended toward a mature sound with hints of new age and jazz, with NEWBLUECITY he gets back into the bluesy rock that was more typical of his collections from the late 1990's.
Perhaps to let listeners know where his musical interests have been lately, Newton opens up with a pulsing track called LATELY. There are up tempo numbers throughtout, including a funny tribute to a largemouth bass, A FISH NAMED BOB. He even pulls off what one could label a lighthearted country music spoof in CHEAPSUIT.
There is also the return of the boogie. Newton established this category of energetic blues-rock for himself with TOM'S BOOGIE (from TRACKS TO THE FUTURE), and then reprised the form on TOMS BOOGIE TWO( from ALTERNATIVE THIS). The boogie has been missing in action for years, but it's back- this time as BUDDYS BOOGIE.
In a sense, Newton's new collection honors his older work, except this time the music is enriched and the lyrics peppered by another decade of living.
