简介: After three albums and one EP the Swiss singer-songwriter Niño presents his fifth piece of work: "No Dress Code". Eleven heterogeneous tracks, which combine all the styles that Benno Ernst lives and loves. Folk, blues, rock or jazz, very gently mixed, shaken and stirred to become versatile, authentic and pure. "No Dress Code" - Feel free to embrace whatever's coming and let it inspire you to do, whatever you want. The pleasure and joy of being in its purest form. This album is an ode to the instinct, the moment, the intuition and creativity. The lyrics of the songs are multilayered and fanciful. They deal with the devilish grin of pungent perfumes, of a dehydrated cowboy in no man's land, of a suicidal trombonist, of breathing in bottles, of horses trained on burning fields or of the Hydra as a way of living. For this album, Niño has created a playground that could make most musicians jealous. He built a gorgeous new recording studio called "Schall Eh", invested in software and studio equipment. The result is a room full of strings, amplifiers, drums, percussion instruments, microphones, faders and buttons. Located in a quiet place, made to experiment and create. Almost the whole month of December 2015 he spent in his little room or out in the woods writing songs, composing sketches and working meticulously until he felt dizzy. As always, Niño tried to make his songs as authentic as possible without too much influence from the outside. The beats were pulsing until late through the cold nights, the bass was shaking the ground, the harmonies of keys and strings were floating in space and Niño's clear and full voice cut through the atmosphere of the small studio. Some songs were completed in a few hours in the woods on a picnic blanket, others took their time developing in the process of recording, often by chance and improvisation. Once again, Niño did all by himself, the songwriting and arrangement, the recording and mixing and even the artwork of the CD cover. Only the mastering was done by his longtime musical compagnon Steven Parry, and the photographing by his favourite photographer Thomas Widmer.
