简介: Formed in 1995 out of a spontaneous jam session, Shortfuse quickly honed their sound into an aggressive blend of old-school, Kill 'em All style thrash metal and new-school hardcore as they brutally attacked the underground scenes in Boston, Worcester, & Providence. Over the years the band has played many successful gigs in and around the central New England region, including a blistering performance in front of thousands at the 1998 Locobazooka festival, which featured such musical heavyweights as Godsmack, Kid Rock, Candlebox, and Kilgore. Additionally, the band has shared the stage with such regional powerhouses as: Tree; Scissorfight; C60; Malevolence; Blackstone Valley Crew; 7 Hill Psychos; Eastcide; Bled; 7th Rail Crew; Controlled Aggression; State of Corruption; Tung; Medium; Hypnotic Kick; Dark Flowered Music; Indu; and Meat Depressed. Shortfuse has also repeatedly gone against the stereotypical image of bands of their genre by contributing proceeds to numerous causes, including the September 11th Fund, the Worcester Food Bank, the Worcester Fire Fighters Fund, the Right to Life Rally (for cancer research), & the Special Olympics. The band has been featured on numerous locally released compilations, including: Some Music By Us For You released by East Coast Audio Entertainment, which also featured the band that would become Nullset; Indieground Vol I released by Recycled Records; Take One released by Cygnus X-1 Productions; and will be featured on both Metaledge Records Neil Young tribute album and the forthcoming Pete Rock Productions compilation (both expected early 2003). Response to their three self-released CDs has been overwhelmingly positive. The Worcester Phoenix praised their first studio release Fused Shut, saying, "Fans of pummel metal will absolutely pump their fists to this...", while Boston Sound Check Magazine claimed that their first live effort Live at the Dog, "Sounds like a real hellfest." Shortfuse has been unleashing its full fury on the New England metal scene since their return in August 2002 after a lineup change earlier in the year. They continue to write new material since they finished work on their most recent effort - a seven track EP, Loud is Good released in April 2002. Says Metronome Magazine: "Shortfuse proves that they are a convincing force to be reckoned with on the hardcore scene."
