简介: This CD was started long ago, as some of the material on it was written when I was but a child.
"Lady I Idolize" for instance, was one of the first songs I ever wrote on the guitar at the age of 18. I'm now older than that ... lol.
Yet some of the material was only finished as we put this collection together.
This music spans a life in music, with a couple looks backwards to the early sound that forged rock and roll. (Check out tracks 2,4,5 & 7 in particular)
Yet ... it was compliled, performed and mixed with the bleeding edge modern production tools available today.
To make it all happen, it ultimately took the talents of a few gifted individuals to forge the material and finally bring the production process to happy fruition.
As per usual, these songs were crafted over the internet, and none of the participating musicians have ever played music in the same room together (but no one should be able to tell that by listening).
Accordingly, I'd TRULY like to thank the following performers for kindly contributing their immense talents to this compilation:
Stuart Gort of Spokane, Washington USA who plays rhythm and lead electric guitar, and performs background vocals on tracks 2,3,4,5,7 & 9.
Tjarko Busink of the Netherlands, who performs bass, rhythm electric and also background vocals on tracks 1,2,3,5 & 7. His lap steel work on "Lady I Idolize" makes the signature sound for that song.
Mark Crumb formerly of Jewitt City Connecticut, who performs lead and rhythm guitar on track 8.
And last but certainly not least: Frank Basile, also known for his work as the "Session Drummer" provider for the Cakewalk line of DAW products, rounds out the band as our drummer on tracks 1,2,3, 6 & 8. Please visit his website at www.smartloops.com
Mastering services were kindly provided by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering. Please visit his site at www.magicgardenmastering.com - He's got golden ears and a light touch.
This release combines the sonic flavorings of yesteryear with the technology of today ... those songs resulting in contemporary versions of classic early rock stylings.
Yet, a balance needed to be struck, so the past blended with the present (tracks 1,3,6, 8 & 9) ... creating a modern record, yet tipping a respectful nod to rock and roll's heritage.
Hence: Retrospectful - a modern record that knows whence it came -- and no -- the album wasn't named by George W. Bush.
Give a listen, I hope you enjoy, and thank you kindly in advance for your support in purchasing our craft.
This album is dedicated with a warm heart to the memory of Mr. Mark Crumb
