简介: Opera is a potent and mysterious art, full of magic, madness, and sensuality. Operatic characters such as the Queen of Night, Poppea, and Giulietta use enchantment, obsession, and potions to achieve their ends, while Lucia, Violetta, Fiordiligi, and Gilda sacrifice sanity, money, honour, and life itself for love. Music has the power to take us beyond the bounds of conventional morality and behaviour; singing transports us to places of feverish ecstasy. Opera is the ultimate expression of Sorcery and Seduction. American/British soprano Laure Meloy is best known for the role of Queen of Night in Die Zauberflöte, which she has performed at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, and Opera North. She recently joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, her performances have been broadcast on radio and television in both the UK and USA, and her voice was featured in the BBC/Sony pictures film ‘Rocketmen.’ 'Laure Meloy's striking Queen of the Night is stunningly confident, pure and accurate.' London Evening Standard 'Laure Meloy's thoughtful Queen of the Night was virtuosic and not the usual pantomime caricature of evil.' The Observer 'Excellent in alt, her pitching little short of miraculous. 'Der hölle Rache' was delivered with real venom.' Musicweb International
