How Do You Know

简介: I've spent a lot of the last 20 yeaars on the road in hotel rooms in other countries. Invariably my Martin Backpacker would come out and I'd try to put in words and song what I was feeling. I've been told that my songs have a sad tone to them, but I guess it's hard to be ha-ha, hee-hee happy when you're away from home and the ones you love. Some songs were written during my 7 year stint in Angola, some of those years being during they're civil war. "The Boys from Huambo" is a dedication to 8 of my friends who were shot down while taking off from the town of Huambo. This happened over the X-mas holidays of 1998-1999 and it took me this long to write a song that I thought was appropriate.
I call the genre of this CD the Baby Boomer genre because all of the songs a relatively simple, with words that rhyme and are understandable, and the meter and tempo are pretty symetrical. I could go into the reason for writing each song, and what they mean but I'm space and time limited here. Just trust me to say that they are each very important to me and I can easily conjure up visions of where I was and what I was doing when I wrote them. Thanks for purchasing the CD. I hope you enjoy it. And many thanks to my producer Pete Miller for guiding me through the process and putting a professional touch on everything he got close to.
