Marv & Rindy Ross formed Quarterflash in 1981 and released their self-titled debut album on Geffen Records. With four top-forty hits, including their top five single "Harden My Heart", Quarterflash went platinum in the U.S. and Canada, and the Rosses went on to record three more Quarterflash CDs. After a decade of recording and touring with artists like Elton John and Linda Ronstadt, they left the "major label world" and concentrated on performing and creating in their home town of Portland, Oregon. Since then, the Rosses have produced several CDs, musicals, workshops, and major concerts including The Trail Band\'s annual holiday Aladdin shows. Marv\'s successful musical, "The Ghosts of Celilo", was recently presented by Artists Repertory Theatre at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts to rave reviews and 13 sold-out performances. 　　 　　\"Goodbye Uncle Buzz\" represents a change in the sound of Quarterflash with a more lush acoustic foundation and an intense personal bent to the lyrics. Co-produced by the Rosses and Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Wallflowers, China Forbes), it was recorded atypically by laying down Rindy\'s lead vocals and Marv\'s acoustic guitar parts first. Marv explains, \"We played all the overdubbed parts to just those two elements to keep the focus on the lead singer and the primary chordal instrument. In previous recordings, we would spend endless hours creating huge drum and guitar sounds and then try to find \"room\" for Rindy\'s lead vocal. By starting with the finalized lead vocal, it forced everyone to play and shape their sounds to complement her voice. It worked beautifully - never has Rindy sounded better.\"
