How I Roll

简介: In a music business that is becoming so saturated, it’s becoming more difficult to become unique. One singer/songwriter that breaks the mold is Matthew Parker. With a pop sound and R&B twist Matthew’s look doesn’t exactly match his sound. Born in northwest Indiana then growing up in Michigan, Matthew has been singing since he was a toddler. He would get in trouble in his childhood piano lessons from playing the music “by ear” and not reading what was on paper. The first job he ever had was singing and acting in an original show. If there was a local talent show, Matthew was in it, always going to the beat of his own drum. In high school he traveled the country with a choir competing nationally, and winning best male soloist at many of the competitions. This led him to perform for thousands in shows at Showchoir Camps of America (SCA) under the direction and guidance of its founders Susan Moninger and Dwight Jordan. He performed in Walt Disney World with SCA, which gave him a strong foundation in his live performance. Matthew eventually moved to Chicago to get an education and perform in a larger city. He had success there performing in many shows. It was while in Chicago that Matthew auditioned for Popstars2 on the WB network (before there was American Idol), and made it into the finals on the show. Judge and renowned music producer James Foster (music producer/songwriter David Foster’s sister) told Matthew he had a “wonderful voice and to continue in this business.” That’s just what he did. He spent some time in Nashville recording a demo but was unhappy with the direction he was under and wanted to write/record his own original music. Having experience in both life and show business Matthew picked his things up and moved to New York City to pursue the business. He created and arranged his own show in a cabaret setting and performed it for people at Dillon’s lounge in NYC. Wanting to create original music Matthew started writing his own with a unique sound. Matthew has been spending a lot of time in the studio to create an original sound that represents who he is as an artist. There’s nothing Matthew loves more than singing, writing music, & being in the recording studio. He's also an actor and has been on stage and in film. Stay tuned folks....& KEEP IT REAL!!!
